celebrated at opening

A unique Peace Country bed and breakfast
had it’s seasonal grand opening on
Monday night and unveiled it’s new artistic centerpiece.
“Over the wintertime, we had Laine Dahlen paint a mural and this is a celebration
of it, ” said Heather Newman of The Granaries in Bear Mountain pinting out
the mural on the ceiling of the the dining room. “ it is kind of a Tuscan landscape,
it really draws you in.”
Newman’s idea to convert the three wood frame granaries into a luxurious getaway
was a few years in the making. I have always kind of wanted to build something,” she
said. And a friend had these old granaries and I thought that it would be simple.
But, it was far from simple,” she laughed.
With a little elbow grease and a good
deal of time, the buildings have been transformed into a romantic
respite from the city. “We have had lots of couples for honeymoons and romantic evenings,” said Newman.
They are mostly local people from around the Peace region.”
Guests can enjoy the secluded location
and comfortable surroundings and look forward to a homemade g
gourmet breakfast. Dinner and spa packages are also
available if they are so desired. “We try to make sure it’s not something that they would likely get at home,” she
said. “we want to make it a special experience.”
The higher end B and B had a successful
inaugral season last year and Newman is looking forward to an
even busier summer this year. “I have already havd people booking from last year,” she said. “I am excited
for the summer.”
