Welcome to Dawson Creek, British Columbia,the heart of the Peace Country and Mile Zero of the Alaska Hwy.

Plan to spend at least a few days to get the full flavour of the Peace. The Visitor Info Center, open daily 8am - 7pm, 900 Alaska Ave - 782-9595 will have all the information you need on what to see and do in Dawson Creek and the surrounding Peace Country.

We also have current brochures on local attractions, as well as maps, restaurant menus, schedules and information on history, shopping, and other diversions compiled in a binder in your room. We are more than happy to share our knowledge of the area and offer suggestions on how to get the most from your visit.

To observe the natural flora and fauna of the Peace up close, McQueens Slough offers a waterfowl refuge,while Radar Lake Community Forest has the well- marked interpretive trails and a beaver lodge .At Sewell Valley Game Farm, approximately 40 minutes from Dawson Creek, you can view northern animals (mountain goats, mountain sheep, elk, bison, reindeer, wild boar...) in a friendly and educational setting.

A few of the most popular side trips from Dawson Creek can be organised in a circle tour depending on your time frame.

W.A.C Bennett Dam -Hydroelectric dam with tours and interpretive center 184 km from Dawson Creek.

Tumbler Ridge, B.C. - Located at the foot of the Rocky Mountains . 23 developed hiking trails leading to waterfalls, caves, alpine vistas, glaciated peaks, lakes, and unique geological formations. Visit the Tumbler Ridge Visitor Information Center for trail guides and maps, and guided hikes are available. Tumbler Ridge is also the site of BC’s most important dinosaur fossil discoveries.

Monkman Provincial Park, 60km south of Tumbler Ridge on the Murray River Road, features scenic rapids, waterfalls, streams, and lakes, hiking trails, picnic areas, mountain biking, camping, touring . Kinuseo Falls tops Niagra by 30 m in height.
