Making a Difference
The Granaries on Bear Mountain and Inn at the Granaries are proud to be associated with the City of Dawson Creek, recently recognized as one of BC's most innovative green cities for demonstrating leadership and action in a range of environmental sustainability initiatives. We also hope to lead by example by gently encouraging guests to appreciate our eco-friendly practices and adopt sustainable goals in their own homes and communities.
Retrofitting old wooden granaries for a unique take on the luxury B&B was a recycling project on a grand scale. Other extremely livable design features include passive solar at The Inn at the Granaries. Lots of natural light as well as more efficient cooling and heating help us to live lightly on our little patch of earth. As well, we're a certified Backyard Habitat by the Canadian Wildlife Federation and due to be profiled in the July/August 2008 issue of their magazine.
